What do we do?
The Field Services Department provides a full array of services to AIEC-member cooperatives. FSD personnel can be found finding extra linemen and equipment for a cooperative experiencing major storm outages. At other times, personnel will be providing and operating a professional public address system for a cooperative's annual meeting.
AIEC member cooperative personnel can enjoy
substantial savings in cooperative purchases of electrical equipment, cooperative vehicles, electrical publications, etc. by working with the FSD.
In addition to assisting AIEC member-cooperatives, the FSD is responsible for maintaining the statewide association's building, grounds and vehicles. The set up of AIEC meeting rooms and preparation of meeting luncheons are also handled by FSD personnel.
With over 54 years of experience, the 2-man team comprising AIEC's Field Services Department stands ready to serve.
IEC Emergency Work Plan
The IEC Emergency Work Plan is designed to expeditiously provide personnel, equipment and materials to any electric cooperative in Illinois which needs assistance during an emergency.
To request assistance, refer to the inside back cover of the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperative's current directory.
Annual Meeting Support
Public Address System--Includes stage and floor microphones, podium, and speakers.
Miscellaneous Items--table skirting, Illinois and US Flags, Stage Lighting.
Video--Although not primarily responsible for video, the Field Services department works in conjunction with AIEC's video department to ensure that a data projector and a big screen are provided for your meeting's presentation if needed.
Displays
Energy Efficient Lighting--through use of a digital wattmeter, it shows how much more electrical power an incandescent bulb consumes when compared to energy-efficient lamps such as a halogen or CFL.
Insulation--shows the advantages of using cellulose insulation over fiberglass insulation. The display has 2 wall cavities--one filled with cellulose and the other filled with fiberglass. Through use of a blower fan and "ping pong balls"--one can see the various air movements in each wall cavity--simulating what happens on a windy day. Each wall cavity also has a thermometer and when a light bulb turns on, one can observe the various temperature rise in the two wall cavities--simulating what happens on a hot sunny day.
Touchstone Energy Banner Ups--A set of 4 where each banner up shows one of the 4 TE values (Integrity, Accountability, Innovation, and Commitment to Community).
Purchasing Advantages
Group Purchasing--Plan and coordinate the group purchasing of the National Electrical Code & the National Electrical Safety Code and their handbooks--passing on quantity discounts to AIEC-member cooperatives. The NEC is produced every 3 years (latest version is 2008) and the NESC is produced every 5 years (latest version is 2007).
Fleet Purchase Program--An arrangement has been made with GM and Ford for fleet discounts on cooperative purchases. Each AIEC-member cooperative has its own GM fleet number, while one fleet number covers all Ford purchases.
RONK Products--Although any AIEC-member cooperative can purchase a RONK product directly through the company, going through the Field Services department for the same purchase can allow member to enjoy greater savings.
